What Did You Expect?

Sometimes as believers we pray for things but have no real expectation that it will come to pass and then wonder why it didn’t happen. If that’s you then my question is, “What did you expect to happen?”

If we really want to see prayers answered, one of the things we need to do is have an expectation that what we are praying for will happen. Jesus said in Mark 11:24, “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them.” If we believe we have what we prayed for then we should also expect the answer to show up.

Expectation isn’t always the easiest thing to have, especially when times are tough. However, there are things we can to help us increase our expectations. The first and most obvious is to meditate on biblical promises by not just reading them but also speaking them. A second thing we could do is praise God in advance for what we are believing for. For example, if you're praying for a new job start thanking God for your new job. I know for myself I’ve had to do this when I didn’t have a car. I would say things like, “Thank you Lord for me being able to drive my own car and not having to borrow one anymore” and so on.

Friends, if we put these things into practice then we can increase our expectation of our prayers being answered and see God do miracles in our life.
