Building a structure on a solid foundation is essential if a person plans on that structure being stable for any significant period of time.
If the foundation is soft then eventually the structure will sink over time. It’s likely it will collapse at some point. Not to mention if it’s outside subject to the elements then this can exacerbate the collapse of the structure. In the New Testament, Jesus talks about this subject but relates it to His teachings. Read the following scripture and see what He says.
Matthew 7:24 - 27 - 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
After reading the previous scripture, can you say you are one who has built their life on the teachings of Jesus, making sure to not just know them but do them? Don’t feel condemned if you haven’t been. Today could be your day to make that change. It may not be the easiest thing but thankfully God can give you grace, the Holy Spirit, and a good church family to help you live how He asks you to live as long as you make the decision that’s what you want.
